Spiritual Thought From Sunday’s lesson:

The Prophet Joseph Smith declared that “Happiness is the object and design of our existence and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness and keeping all the commandments of God.”

It is a long path, a strait path, a mountainous  path that winds and curls and ascends, a journey that requires faith and energy and perseverance to reach the top. There are intermediate stops along the way, summits and plateaus that provide temporary rest and reassurance. But climbers will not find ultimate satisfaction unless they are pressing toward the top of the mountain. And so it is with life.

The Saviour taught, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world”. [John 16:33] Our Joy is to be found in and through Christ. To climb the mountain of spirituality is to “press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” [Philippians 3:14] [Taken from ‘More Holiness Give me’ by Robert L. Millet].
